The Municipal District of Big Lakes is a rural community of almost 4,500 people living to the north, south and west of Lesser Slave Lake.  The M.D. includes the unincorporated hamlets of Grouard, Enilda, Joussard and Faust.  The Towns of High Prairie and Swan Hills, the Village of Kinuso, the Gift Lake, Peavine and East Prairie Metis Settlements, and the Kapawe’no, Sucker Creek, Driftpile and Swan River First Nations are all located within the M.D.’s boundaries.
